HILL WALKING

Me on Crib Goch with Snowdon behind in Sept 1999 & Dec 1993I was chairman of the Wayfarers club, the mountain walking club at the University of Birmingham in 1996. We had over 230 members to satisfy and organised 26 day and weekend walking trips and around 15 social events during the year. Why not spend a virtual day with the club when they visited Edale in the Peak District in January 1996 by clicking here. We arrived late on the Friday night in the middle of a blizzard, and awoke to a further 12 inches of fresh snow on the ground........

I've walked widely across England and Wales in all 10 National Parks with occasional ventures across the border into Scotland. A few years ago I spent a year in the USA and was lucky enough to climb Mt. St. Helens. Below are a couple of shots of my friend Andy and I on the mountain. We were amazed at the amount of steam and dust that is still being released from the volcano. Certainly well worth the visit if you ever get the chance.

Here's a picture of me when I was lucky enough to run the University 'Wandering up Hills' club. I'm top right and the other nine are the rest of the committee. At the base and top of Mt St Helens
